Hosting a Party For The Big Game: 4 Game Day-Essentials

The Big Game is right around the corner, and that means it is time to start planning your Big Game party! Whether you are hosting a large party at your home, or you have a smaller group of guests coming over, we want to provide you with tips for making it a huge success. Here are some of our tips for hosting the best party for the Big Game.

1. SET UP AN AREA TO WATCH THE GAME OUTDOORS

Do you live in a place where you can get away with enjoying your patio furniture in February? If so, taking the party outdoors is the way to go. Make the space comfortable by having ample seating with a good view of the game. If it's cooler out, have fire pit tables and heaters going to keep your guests warm. For seating, sectionals are a great way to provide seating for a group of people. Our 3 Piece Peninsula Sectional pictured below has many variations, but this one can seat 6 people just on the sectional! You can add additional seating with club chairs, loveseats and sofas. Make sure to have something in the center like a coffee table for guests to place their drinks and food on. Position the TV at the opening of the seating area so everybody will have a great view of the game.

2. HAVE DIFFERENT ENTERTAINING SPACES

Although the main entertainment will be the Big Game, it is always a great idea to have some other entertainment for your guests during the commercial breaks and if they hang around after the game. Some great options are setting up various games in different spaces. You can set up cornhole in one area, and footballs for people to play catch in another. If there are children attending, you may want to consider having a separate area for them to play and keep busy. Consider setting up a coloring station with some football themed coloring pages for the children to have options.

3. MAKE IT A POTLUCK

Having everybody bring a dish to share takes the stress off the host. Hosting a party is a lot of work, and if your guests can help out with the food, it will make it more enjoyable for you! Potlucks are also a great opportunity for you and your guests to get to try new recipes out.

4. PLAY FOOTBALL SQUARES

A fun way to keep all of your guests interested in the game is by playing football squares. To do this, you will want to set up a 10x10 grid. There will be 100 squares total. You will assign one team to the columns, and one to the rows. Let your guests write their names in the squares, usually for a monetary amount, until all the squares have been filled. Then, randomly select numbers 0-9 and assign each number to a row. Repeat the random selection of 0-9 for the columns. The random numbers on the rows and columns will represent the last digit of each team's score. You can select a winner for each quarter’s score during the game. This is a fun way to keep everybody, young and old, excited for the duration of the game.
